Divine Graces of His Holiness Sultan-ul-Mashaikh (R.A.)
(1) During the construction of historic
"Baoli" or "Baori" (a tank or reservoir of water) in the
Khanqah, Sultan Ghyasuddin’s Tughlaq and the Ulema were
upset. (This Baoli is still there as a sacred relic). In
order to obstruct the work of His Holiness "Baoli", the
Sultan immediately started massive construction works and
employed all the available labour of the city. The Labourers
due to great devotion to His Holiness, decided to work on
the "Baoli" in the night. This required lighting arrangements.
His Holiness through his disciple Hazrat Nasiruddin Chiragh
asked the labourers to use water from the "Baoli" as oil
and the water did burn like real oil and the Baoli was completed
in time.
(2) It is written in a book Gulshane-Aulia
that a murid of His Holiness Hazrat Sultan-ul-Mashaikh (R.A)
had asked what is Peeri and muridi and what is the distinction?
The great Saint did not answer but asked him to go to the
north side. The murid did so and ultimately landed in Lahore.
Before his reaching, the Ruler of Lahore had ordered in
general public, that, "any one who finds any murid of His
Holiness, Hazrat Sultan-ul-Mashaikh (R.A), bring him to
me". The murid was identified by a resident of Lahore and
was taken to the Ruler of Lahore. The Ruler of Lahore was
very much pleased and gave one hundred gold coins as Nazrana
for His Holiness and told him that His Holiness has sent
him for this work. On the way back to Delhi the murid met
a lady (whore) and fell for her. He asked the lady (whore)
to spent a night with him. She posed a condition that if
he is able to put one gold coin on each embroided flower
of her ‘dupatta’. He accept the condition and gave all one
hundred gold coins to the lady. She offered herself to him.
As the murid wished to come close to her, he finds that
some one powerfully slaps him on his face. He fell unconscious!
When he came back to his sense the lady enquired, what was
the reason and how it all happened? He then explained her
the whole story about His Holiness, Hazrat Sultan-ul-Mashaikh
(R.A). After hearing it,–love, affection and honour for
the great Sufi Saint grew in her heart. She sold all her
properties and came with her belongings with the murid into
the feet of His Holiness. They both apologized and she became
the murid of the great Sufi Saint. She distributed all her
belongings and gold coins among the dervishes and the poor.
His Holiness, Hazrat Sultan-ul-Mashaikh (R.A) then explained
the meaning of muridi and Piri.
Muridi is that without asking anything
you followed my order and directly went to Lahore empty
handed.
Piri is that, when you want to do
a sin (Haram), with that lady, I protected you from committing
that Sin (Haram). After saying this His Holiness, Hazrat
Sultan-ul-Mashaikh (R.A) performed the Nikah (wedding) of
the murid with that woman, and told them, that now this
woman is "Halal" for you. You are protected from committing
sin (Haram).
Wherever the murid of the Sufi Saint, the
Peer always takes care of him. He protects his murid from
going on the wrong track.
(3) Once His Holiness Khalifa Hazrat
Makhdoom Nasiruddin Chiragh Dehlavi (R.A) said that Hazrat
Qazi Mahiuddin Kashani (R.A) who was a great Saint and disciple
of His Holiness Hazrat Sultan-ul-Mashaikh (R.A) was seriously
ill and was in coma, and was on the verge of death. After
hearing the news of his serious condition, His Holiness
Hazrat Sultan-ul-Mashaikh (R.A) came to enquire about his
health. So was the effect that Qazi Saheb immediately became
alright. He fell on His Holiness feet and did Qudambossy
(kissed the feet).
(4) Hazrat Makhdoom Saheb further states
that one of the murid of His Holiness, Hazrat Sultan-ul-Mashaikh
(R.A), had arranged a "Mehfile". (a Programme of Qawwali)–"devotional
songs" and also invited few people for dinner. When people
heard that Qawwali is organised, several thousand people
turned uninvited. The worried host had only food for few
invited people. When His Holiness, Hazrat Sultan-ul-Mashaikh
(R.A) heard that food was very less, His Holiness asked
the host not to worry but send people in batches of ten
to the eating room. Food was served with reciting "Bismilla-hir-Rehman-nir-Rahim"
and the bread (Roti) was cut into four pieces. "Subhan-Allah"
every one ate with full capacity and satisfaction. With
the grace and blessings of His Holiness, Hazrat Sultan-ul
Masshaikh (R.A) food did not finish!
