Life History
His Holiness father died when he was just
five years old. The Holy mother Hazrat BiBi Zulekha (R.A)
had dreamt of it. She heard a mysterious voice asking her
to select either the husband or the son. She selected the
son. Within days, her husband Khwaja Syed Ahmed (R.A) died.
He was laid to rest at Sagartal in Badayun (U.P.).
The child was brought up at the lap of
his mother. She was a godly gifted woman. She was a courageous,
enterprising, hard working by nature. She was very religious,
ethical, had a lot of patience and tolerance and depended
on the Almighty Allah (God) - the Giver of the Sustenance!
She trained her child, the ethical values, patience and tolerance.
He imbibed all the qualities of his mother. These qualities
were furthered cemented spiritually by Hazrat Baba Farid (R.A).
Today, His Holiness is a statute of fraternity and a luminary
lighthouse of peace and happiness in this world. She had a
great foresight and gave his son the best education of the
times. His Holiness was from childhood an incarnation of humility
and purity
His first teacher was Hazrat Shadi Muqri
a student of the celebrated scholar of Lahore Hazrat Khwaja
Muqri. Hazrat Shadi Muqri was an expert and excellent teacher
in reciting Quran Sharif. The other teacher was Hazrat Moulana
Allauddin Usuli (R.A), who was very saintly but not a Sufi
Saint. By chance he met Hazrat Sheikh Shahabuddin Suharwardi
(R.A). who gave direction and meaning to his life.
In 653 A.H/1253 A.D, His Holiness completed
his graduation under Hazrat Moulana Allauddin Usuli (R.A)
and it became necessary to wear turban as a sign of graduation.
He had no money to buy a turban. Mai Saheba (mother of His
Holiness) however consoled him and spun some yarn with the
neighbour’s help. His Holiness then took this hand spun cloth
and some sweats to Hazrat Moulana Allauddin Usuli. Hazrat
Usuli then supplemented the food from his own house in order
to make a feast. Hazrat Ali Moula (R.A) a great Saint was
invited and after the feast he dressed the turban on the young
graduate (His Holiness). While winding the turban, the young
graduate (Aalim) bowed down and placed his head at the feet
of Hazrat Sheikh Ali Moula. Hazrat Moula was touched and prophesised
that the young graduate will become a very great Saint. The
reasons given were that the young graduate prostrated before
his elders and his turban was fully hand woven cotton. This
proved his simplicity and piety. Thus a long cherished mother’s
dream was fulfilled.
At the age of 16, His Holiness, with
his Mother and Sister Hazrat BiBi Zaineb (R.A) left to Delhi
for higher studies. His Holiness first stayed in a small shelter
in the neighbourhood of Hazrat Sheikh Najeebuddin Mutawakkil
(R.A) who was the younger brother of Hazrat Baba Farid Ganj
Shakar (R.A).7 But due to the
affection shown by Hazrat Sheikh Najeebuddin Mutawakkil (R.A),
His Holiness became more attached to become murid of Baba
Farid at Ajodhan. This was the period of Sultan Nasiruddin
Mahmood and Delhi was an International Centre for learning.
