"Take life seriously: Nation and Society cannot be built without sacrifice. World peace is not possible without sacrifice!
Learn to expand your mind. Experience the grandeur of the world in which you are living and learn to be service to mankind – even at the risk of starvation and death, if necessary.
This attitude of living is the theme of all Holy Scriptures."

HIS HOLINESS HAZRAT KHWAJA SYED NIZAMUDDIN AULIA
Mehboob-e-Elahi; Sultan–ul-Mashaikh (R.A)
(1238 A.D. to 1325 A.D.)

2. Spiritual Lustre of His Holiness

His Holiness on his way back to Delhi visited Hazrat Shaikh Jamaluddin Hansvi (R.A) at Hansi. In adoration as a successor of the Chishti Order he said,

"Thank God in scores, he has given the Jewel to a valued jeweller."

Hazrat Baba Farid further said, "that you will not be present at my death but I hand over all these things to you." Thus His Holiness sat on the spiritual throne of Chisthi Dynasty. It is known that Hazrat Baba Farid (R.A) lived for three years thereafter and His Holiness used to visit him. After Baba Farid’ death His Holiness visited the Shrine seven times.

His Holiness crowned his head with the crown of poverty. Sultans, Rulers, Amirs, Scholars and Saints encircled His Holiness like a moth around light, for his blessings. But His Holiness never befriended the rich and the richest. Amir Khurd in "Siyarul-Aulia" writes,

"I heard from my father, when Allah the Almighty the Bestower of the Rewards, made His Holiness as ‘Mehboob-e-Elahi’ (the beloved of the Almighty Allah Tala), the great Scholars, Sufis, Amirs and Sultans were made his slaves. None else remains bare headed without wearing the crown of the dust of his threshold, and his table laden with goods became anonymous to the eternal dishes of the heaven."

The Great Saint was the warden of the world. The Sustainer of the Universe has given the rope in His Holiness hand.

Sultan Allauddin Khilji in his humble supplication wrote to His Holiness,

"Oh, the most reverend benevolent, I submit before you and put my crown on your lap, pray for me and for my kingdom. The calamities and miseries of the world banishes with the footmarks of your feet. Oh, Holiness allow me to come and kiss your feet to exalt myself in both the worlds."

His Holiness replied:

"Oh, king what dervishes has matters with Kings, I am a dervish, dwells in the corners of the city spared in worshiping the (Allah Tala) Lord and praying for the Muslim Sultans. If the King insist to meet me, the land of the Lord (Allah Tala) is vast, and I may pass on to the other Shelter."

The King apologized and begged for prayers. His Holiness said:

"I am always secretly praying for you, as secret prayers in isolaton holds more affections."

The Sultan in his deep affection and love again requested His Holiness to greet and to illuminate himself with the glimpses of His Holiness countenance.

Ultimately, His Holiness sent the message:

"There are two doors of my house. If the Sultan comes by one door, I will quit by the other."

These are the characteristics of the Sufi Chishti Saints who never befriends the rich and riches of the world. They are the cup bearers of the goblet, "Poverty is my Pride" (Prophet SAW).

"You are the Qibla of all the kings
All the land of the universe is beneath you
The crowns of the Kings are of your darbar’s dust
All the kingdoms of the world are at your feet.
All the worlds are under your sky.
Sun and Moon are in your service."

Thus life of His Holiness in Delhi had become the epitome of Hazrat Baba Farid’s teachings and crystallization of the ideology of the Chishti Order.
